The GCDMN recognises the value
of a strong, supportive and resilient local disaster management community network.

The Glasshouse Country Disaster Management Network (GCDMN) is a community-led network of local groups and services who are willing to be asked to provide extra support and local information if required by authorities at the time of a disaster.
The purpose of the GCDMN is to:
1. Collect local information on GCDMN members’ representatives contact details and their available resources and equipment for use by the Sunshine Coast Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) in the event of major emergency events; and
2. Be a communication conduit to share information in times of major emergency events, if requested.
3. Coordinate local community arrangements if required to support authorities, such as providing meals and donations.
In times of severe weather and disaster events, please refer to the Sunshine Coast Disaster Hub to keep informed of all current updates and alerts. http://disaster.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au

The GCDM Network evolved from a series of workshops held in 2019, which explored how local community groups and services could best support each other in times of major emergency events.
These workshops lead to the development of a localised handbook, and a directory of contacts and resources to be utilised by the Sunshine Coast Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) in times of disasters and emergencies.
This local community contacts and resource directory is regularly maintained by the GCDMN coordination team.

Our purpose is to collect local information on GCDMN members’ representatives contact details, and the available resources and equipment for use by the Sunshine Coast Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) in the event of major emergency events. As a disaster management community network, our role is only to assist share information and be a communication conduit in times of major emergency events.
Our role therefore is to provide the Sunshine Coast Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) with a collaborative database of community resources and services only and share and communicate public information.
